On an olive estate outside Florence, five generations of the Luca family have guarded these centuries-old olive trees. When their granddaughter Sofia enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu, her grandfather made her her first cheese board out of heirloom olive wood, with the family motto “Fatto con amore” (made with love) carved around the edge.
The board, which has grown warmer with use, has taken Sofia from cooking classes in Paris to Michelin restaurants in London, and eventually became the most special welcome gift at her wedding - a replica cheese plate with cured Italian meats, signed by all the guests on the back with their well-wishes.
